Ireta H. Sommer, 85, of Menan, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at The Gardens of Rigby.
She was born July 2, 1925, in Tetonia to Chris Mickelson and Mary Ann Hill Mickelson. She was raised and attended schools in Tetonia. On March 18, 1947, she married Ross Sommer in Dillon Montana. Together they had five children.
In 1959 they moved their family to Capostrano Beach California. In 1976 they moved back to Garfield, Idaho where she worked for Fresh Pack and Tucker Produce. In 1985 she moved outside of Rigby and worked at Rigby Produce. In 2008 she moved to Menan to live with her daughter, Jana and in 2010 she moved to The Gardens of Rigby. Ireta enjoyed crafts, making dolls, fishing and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters; Julie (Brian) Coryell, of Webster, TX, Jana (John Kirk) Collier, of Menan, ID, sons; Fred (Maria) Sommer, of Marysville, CA, Scott (Cindy) Sommer, of Mephis, MO, stepsons; Brent (Linda) Sommer, of St. Anthony, ID, Steve (Sue) Sommer, of Idaho Falls, sisters; Lola Wolfe, of Oregon, Marylou (Deloy) McKenna, of Rexburg, ID, Lois June Miller, of Parker, ID and 19 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Ross Sommer, a son, Jerry Sommer, and 7 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
