J. Mack Anderson, 89, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Lyman, Idaho, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehab. Center.
He was born April 15, 1920, in Thornton, to James MacCammon Anderson and Georgia Lile Marler Anderson. He was raised in Thornton and attended Independence Grade School and Madison High School. He entered the US Navy in 1944, and was honorably discharged in 1945. On December 31, 1945, he married Eva Allen in Rexburg; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 23, 1965. He actively farmed in the Thornton area until age 79.
Mack was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and family activities.
He is survived by his wife, Eva A. Anderson, of Idaho Falls, a daughter, Sonja Jessie (Darryll) Ervin, of Sandy, UT, sons, Neil A. (Sue) Anderson, of Blackfoot, James Mack (Christine) Anderson Jr., of Liberty Lake, WA, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Susan Marie Baran, sisters, Jessie Lile Anderson, Mary Evelyn Anderson, a brother, Willard Neil Anderson, and a great granddaughter, Lacy Jae Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Lyman 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel, in Rigby.
