J (Jack) Garth Zundel; age 84 of Rigby, Idaho died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at his home in Rigby, Idaho. Jack was born April 26, 1918 at St. Anthony, Idaho the son of David Eugene Zundel and Mary Matilda Rumsey Zundel. He attended school in Egin, Idaho and worked with his dad in the family potato business and on the farm. He married Leola Vilate Lee on August 18, 1934 in Shelley, Idaho. They later divorced. While attending school at Henneger Business College in Salt Lake City, he met Chloe Winger. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 8, 1941.
Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed on a training vessel off of Long Beach, California in which they patrolled the west coast of the United States. Jack was a member of the National Cutter Association. He farmed and raised horses in Rigby, Idaho. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the Bishop in the Rigby 4th Ward, 4th Ward Clerk, High Priest Group Leader and instructor, and Sunday School
President. Jack and his wife helped to raise many children including four foster children. Jack’s pride, joy and love was his family and his favorite horse Rowdy Beaver. Survivors include 4 daughters, Marsha (Roger) Ball of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kathleen (Wayne) Walden of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Janet Marie (Philip) Johnson of Lyman, Wyoming, and Jacqueline (Elbert) Garner of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Four sons, Gary Lee (Karen) Scott of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bradley Eugene (Sandra) Zundel of Rigby, Idaho, Gregory Garth Zundel of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Bryce Alan(Diane) Zundel of Sandy, Utah. One brother G. Dan (Dona) Zundel of Rigby, Idaho. 36 grandchildren 47 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister Lova Green, one granddaughter Tammy Wise, one great granddaughter Kyree Keeler.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby 1st and 4th
Ward L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Rod Wallace conducting. The family will meet with friends on
Monday, March 17, 2003 from 7:00 p.m until 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel and
prior to the services at the church from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
