J. Berlin Osborn, 92, of Menan, Idaho died June 25, 2008 at the Pinebrook Assisted Living Center in Rigby. Berlin was born April 2, 1916 to Warren Jasper Osborn and Ruby Twitchell Osborn. He was raised in Escalante, Utah and graduated from High School there. He attended Utah State University and received his Bachelors degree in Education. He taught school at Escalante High School. Berlin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Bishop when the Escalante South Ward building was built, in the Stake Presidency, Stake High Council for 21 years, in the St. George L.D.S. Temple for 2 years, and a mission the New England States. Berlin married Renee Smith on April 20, 1940 in Manti, Utah. She preceded him in death. He married Lucile Schwendiman Jacobs on October 21, 1993 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. He served in the United States Army after World War II. Berlin enjoyed horses, gardening, and chocolate.
Survivors include his wife Lucile Osborn of Menan, Idaho, two daughters Bernice (George) Jolley of Antimony, Utah, Jo (Mac) Barney of Cedar City, Utah, three sons, Milton (Sherry) Osborn of Rock Hill, South Carolina, David (Roberta) Osborn of Spokane, Washington, Kent (Donna) Osborn of Panquich, Utah, two sisters Lasca Eyre, Evelyn Wilcox both of Bountiful, Utah, one brother Herbert (Melba) Osborn of Spokane, Washington, 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren.
Berlin was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Renee, one brother, two sisters, and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Menan 2nd Ward L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Eric Beck conducting. The family will visit with friends on Monday prior to the service at the church from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Escalante, Utah on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.
