Jack LeRoy Waddell, 68, of Rigby, Idaho died November 2, 2005 at the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jack was born September 29, 1937 in Idaho Falls, Idaho a son of Samuel Eugene Waddell and Bertha Celia Dymack Waddell. He attended school at Lincoln Elementary in Idaho Falls. He married Verla Rae Oram on June 4, 1957 in Annis, Idaho. She preceded him in death. Jack married Helen Rose Waters Edlefsen on August 5, 1988 in Wilford, Idaho Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on April 23, 2002. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served as a home teacher and as the activities director. He worked for Idaho Pacific, Pro-Ida in Ririe, the Ririe Dam, and Minidoka Dam, lambing for Ball Brothers sheep, Dave Dalling, and Henry McCollock summer grazing sheep. He worked at the I.N.E.L. in general maintenance. Jack also broke and drove draft horses. He belonged to the Upper Valley Draft Association and the Eastern Idaho Hound Association. Jack enjoyed working with his horses, cutting scrap iron, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
Survivors include his wife Helen Waddell of Rigby, 2 daughters, Carla Rae (Danny) Hayes of Idaho Falls, Lexi Mae (Chumondo) Rascon of Phoenix, Arizona, 2 step daughters, Wanda (John) Calhoun of Phoenix, Arizona, Margaret (Paul) Gallup of St. Anthony, 2 sons Robert Lamont (Wendy) Waddell of Huston, Texas, Clyde Lyle (Susan) Waddell of Driggs, Idaho, 3 step-sons, Wayne Bruce (Dolly) Edlefsen of Egin, Kent W. Edlefsen of Leadore, and Tony C. Edlefsen of Leadore, four sisters, Donna Virginia Knudson of Mountain Home, Lyda Lucille (John) Reichart of Billings, Montana, Karen Celia (Lanny) Mitchell of Idaho Falls, Emma Jean (Richard) Lowell of Salt Lake City, Utah, two brothers William Orville (Neva) Waddell of Chubbuck, and Jerry (Susan) Waddell of St. Maries, Idaho, 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Verla, one daughter Peggy Waddell, one son Garth Waddell, one granddaughter Meg Hipwell, and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Rigby 3rd Ward L.D.S. Chapel (364 North 4100 East) with Bishop Calvin McComber officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday morning prior to the services from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. both at the church. Burial will follow the services at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jack Waddell Memorial Fund at Zions Bank at 219 East Main Rigby, Idaho 83442.
