Jacqueline Gayle Shattuck, 70, of Rexburg, died October 14, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Sugar City. She died after a 17 year battle with cancer and received excellent care from Eastern Idaho Hospice in her last days.
She was born June 3, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, to James G. Anderson and Noreen Mae Roberts Anderson. She was raised in Akron, Ohio, and as a teenager, moved to Denver, Colorado. On June 1, 1957, she married Lawrence Lee Shattuck, in Denver, Colorado; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, July 5, 1964.
She worked as a Head Start Teacher for many years, at Cabella’s in Sidney, Nebraska, and organized the Reading with Partners for elementary students.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Seminary Teacher, Relief Society President, worked in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple, and served a mission in the Little Rock Arkansas Mission/Jacksonville. Jacqueline loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, she was a wonderful cook, and won 1st place for her rhubarb pie at the county fair.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Lee” Shattuck, of Rexburg, daughters, Robin Busch, of Idaho Falls, Lark Renee (Stephen) Hillier, of Sugar City, sons, Lawrence Lee (Kathy) Shattuck Jr., of Thornton, Colorado, Drake (Lijuan) Shattuck, of Salt Lake City, Utah, a brother, Robert G. (Marilyn) Anderson, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, James Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Rexburg Center Stake,LDS Chapel, 590 Summerwood Drive, Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel, in Rigby.
