James Carl Perry

June 6, 1948 — September 7, 2025

Obituary for James “Jim” Carl PerryJames “Jim” Carl Perry, 77, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away on September 7, 2025.

Jim was born and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he spent his childhood hunting and helping at his family’s John Deere dealership. He went on to attend Humboldt University in California, earning a master’s degree in Psychology. It was there he met the love of his life, Patty, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.

Jim dedicated his career to serving others as a drug and alcohol counselor, working tirelessly to help people find hope and healing. In his later years, he followed his calling into ministry, serving as a lay pastor at Rigby Presbyterian Church. His lifelong pursuit was to help others better themselves, especially those who were overlooked, forgotten, or struggling. He never hesitated to extend a hand to someone in need or to stand up for what he believed in.

Outside of work, Jim enjoyed collecting antiques and had a particular passion for uncovering pieces of history by exploring old homesteads, unearthing forgotten treasures, and collecting antique bottles. In quieter moments, Jim loved nothing more than spending evenings at home with Patty and a good book.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Evaleen Perry. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patty; their three children, Kenneth and his wife Stephanie, Christian and his wife London, and Rachel and her husband Tony; two grandchildren; and his brother Mike and his wife Pamela.

The family invites friends to attend the regular Sunday service November 2, 2025 at Rigby Presbyterian Church (111 W 1st N, Rigby, ID 83442) at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life for Jim at The Millhouse on Sunday November 2, 2025 (436 North 4014 E, Rigby, ID 83442) from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of Jim’s favorite charities, The Giving Cupboard or the Rigby Presbyterian Deacon’s Fund. Jim’s kindness, compassion, and steadfast faith touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
