Janet Mable Ashbocker

Janet Mable Mason Ashbocker, age 80, passed away, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home in Lewisville. She was born August 8, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho a daughter to Harlan and Margaret Chapple Mason. She is the 2nd of six children. She attended schools in Ririe graduating from Ririe High School. She married Gary Von Ashbocker in Ririe on September 9, 1953. She went to Ex-cel-cis School of Beauty, graduating in March of 1955. She worked as a beautician for 48 years, retiring in 2003. Janet and Gary loved to dance and went out dancing whenever they could. They later started singing together with Gary accompanying them on the guitar. Janet and Gary had five children, Kevin, Sheri, Curt, Marie and Peggy. Janet enjoyed cooking for family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping with Gary, their family and friends. She was an excellent bowler, seamstress and gardener. Some of her greatest joy came from growing a big garden and sharing her produce with her neighbors, family and friends. She looked forward every month to quilt day and crochet class. Gary and Janet were sealed in the Temple on December 20, 2003. She was preceded in death by her son Curt, her husband Gary and her grandson Colby Rolfe. She is survived by her sisters and brothers, JoAn Wood, Geri Kurkura, Dallon, Zane and Mike Mason, Her children Kevin (Roxie) Ashbocker, Sheri (Kelly) Rand, Marie (Kent) Rolfe and Peggy (Don) Larson. She had 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Lewisville 1st Ward LDS Chapel 474 North 3450 East, Lewisville, with Bishop Roger Nield officiating. The family will visit with friends at the Lewisville Church, Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
