Janet Lynn Mccardell

Janet Lynn Arave McCardell passed away on August 27, 2025. She was the second child born to Lyal and Bernice Arave. Lynn grew up in southeast Idaho. She worked at the INL for 42 years. She met her husband Richard (Dick) in 1962 at the site, and they were married at Leslie, Idaho, March 30, 1963. Dick and Lynn spent 49 years together working, farming, horse packing, rafting, and traveling. Dick passed away June 18, 2012. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple April 27, 1999.

Lynn is survived by two stepchildren: Laurie Lewis of Idaho Falls and Bryan McCardell of San Diego; six grandchildren and one great grandchild: Jessica, Natalie, Jeremy, Kamaryn Lewis and Christina, Bradley, and Clinton McCardell; four surviving siblings: Lennis Arave, Kristie Bradshaw, Cindy Cook and Kevin Arave. Her parents and a sister Karen Waddoups preceded her in death.

At Lynn’s request no services were held. She is buried in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery next to her husband.
