Janice Hansen Mueller, 92, of Rigby, Idaho, peacefully passed from this earthly test on May 5, 2026, surrounded by her daughters, and returned home to her eternal companion, Everett “Butch” Mueller.
Janice was born March 10, 1934, in Menan, Idaho, the youngest daughter of Ole and Lula Hansen. She attended schools in Menan and graduated from Rigby High School, where she was an excellent student and held several leadership positions. She enjoyed cheerleading, student body activities, and the many friendships she made during her school years.
On November 27, 1951, Janice married her high school sweetheart, Everett “Butch” Mueller. Together they built their forever home in Rigby and created a life centered on faith, love, hard work, and family. They were blessed with five children: Rhonda (Dennis) Merrill, of Grant; Barbara (Kelly) Hart,of Rigby; Brent (Almedis) Mueller,of Idaho Falls; Nancy (Kim) Hansen, of Grant; and Becky (Doug) Johnson, of Idaho Falls.
Janice was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and devoted her life to serving the Lord and others. She served in many callings throughout her life. At a young age, while caring for three small children and supporting a son through heart surgery, she faithfully served as Relief Society President and as a representative for the American Heart Association. She served in the Boy Scouts and as Primary President. She sang in the Chansonets Choir and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She diligently fulfilled her ministering assignments up until the end and remained a shining example to all her posterity.
Christmas was one of her favorite holidays, as she loved sharing her Norwegian traditions and gathering her family together. She was talented in many ways and was known as an exceptional cook and seamstress. Janice had a lifelong love of learning, and later in life returned to school to earn her nursing degree. She formed lifelong friendships during that time and worked in Day Surgery at Madison Memorial Hospital until retiring at age 65. Janice loved traveling, reading, playing games, watching movies, spending time at the cabin in Palisades, and most of all, being with her family. After 62 years of marriage, one of Janice’s lifelong dreams was fulfilled when she and Butch were sealed together with their children in the Rexburg Idaho Temple. They later celebrated 70 years of marriage and were a beautiful example of patience and true love.
Janice was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She made every member of her family feel remembered and treasured. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Everett “Butch” Mueller; her son, Brent Mueller; granddaughter, JoAnn; grandsons, Brad and Victor; great-granddaughter, Halle; her parents, Ole and Lula Hansen; sisters, Thora, Martha, Dorothy, Zelma, and Nadine; and her younger brother, David. Janice had a wonderful sense of humor and was full of Sass. She loved telling people how old she was while proudly sharing all the things she could still do-her favorite "bragging rights." With a sparkle in her eye, she would say, "You know I'm turning 92, and I rode every ride at Disney!".....
