Janice Hanson Stewart

Janice Stewart, 89 of Rigby, ID passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on April 30, 2025.

Janice was born on May 9, 1935 in Shelley, ID to Elmer Bennett Hanson and Belva May Apgood. She graduated from Shelley High School in 1953 and attended Ricks College for a short period of time.

While attending Ricks College, she met the love of her life Karl George Stewart. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 12, 1957. After they were married, they made their way to Logan, UT for less than a year before making their forever home in Rigby, ID where they were blessed with 6 children.

Janice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed spending countless hours in her garden. When she was not in her garden, she would be found in the kitchen teaching her granddaughters how to can and make fresh jams. She also loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

She is survived by her four children; Kerry Stewart of Rigby, ID, Kevin Stewart of Peoria, AZ, Kathy (Brian) Robison of Idaho Falls, ID, Kelly Stewart of Rigby, ID, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, two children; Ronald and Kay, and her sister Arlene.

Graveside Service will be held on May 5, 2025 at 11:00am at the Hillcrest Cemetery 781 E 1200 N in Shelley, ID .
