Beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend Jared Hawke, 29, passed away from a long battle of brain cancer on September 8, 2014 surrounded by his wife and family who loved him.
Jared was born on July 8, 1985 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to the late Steven Hawke and Deborah Reed. He graduated from Rigby High School and also obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
He served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tempe, Arizona. He sincerely enjoyed serving the Lord and teaching the gospel and touched the lives of many. He always had a strong testimony of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ, eternal life, and the lasting bonds of family. Jared remains an example to all who knew him of faith, hope, and enduring well to the end.
In the spring of 2011 he met the love of his life Brianna Lynn Matheson and were sealed together as eternal companions on May 26, 2012. Jared and Brianna enjoyed every moment with each other and made sweet lasting memories. In February 2013 Jared was diagnosed, and the couple spent a year and a half battling his cancer together. He had a strong will to live and fought courageously to spend more time with his loved ones.
Jared enjoyed the outdoors, playing with his nieces and nephews, and spending time with his wife and family. He was a hard worker serving his family and the church faithfully. He rode his four-wheeler up until he could not get out of bed anymore with a love for all things mechanical. He brought so much joy and fun to his wife, family, and all who knew him. He could light up a room with his smile.
He is survived by his wife, Brianna Hawke of Simi Valley, California; his parents Deborah and Brad Reed; and siblings: Jason Hawke (Pamela) of Boise, Idaho, Justin Hawke (Rebecca) of Pinedale, Wyoming, Jana Hawke Dalby (Stephen) of South Jordan, Utah, Julie Hawke (Zach Tilton) of Sidi Slimane, Morocco, and John Hawke of Rexburg, Idaho; and grandparents: Eldon and Maureen Scott of Annis, Idaho, Jesse Hawke of Cranbrook, BC. He is also survived by his step-siblings Nathan Reed (Maija) of Boise, Idaho, Kiera Stites (Brian) of Boise, Idaho, Kirsten Arthur (Brandon) of Henderson, Nevada, Krystle Swain (Brent) of Boise, Idaho, and Lorna Bryce (Benjamin) of Henderson, Nevada. He is the favorite uncle of twenty-six nieces and nephews. His father, Steven Jesse Hawke and grandmother Ruth Park Hawke preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Rexburg Twenty-Third Ward LDS Chapel, 345 South 3rd West, Rexburg, Idaho. There will be visiting hours for family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
