Jared Chabot Murray, 80, of Rexburg, died on January 13, 2023 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Jared was born April 7, 1942 to George Bradshaw Murray and Ruth Jane Chabot in Seattle, Washington. He attended schools in Rigby and Shelley Idaho, and graduated in 1960.

Jared attended Ricks College prior to serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Austrian Mission. He returned from his mission, met, and married Dianne Thompson, and they later divorced. Together they had 12 children.

He married JoAnn Sharp Flygare in 1993. He lovingly cared for her as her health declined and she passed in June, 2021.

He worked as a business owner, automotive mechanic, and truck driver. He was known for his ability to build and fix most anything he set his mind to. He had a hearty laugh and was always ready with a joke. He enjoyed family history and temple work, and most recently served as a facilitator for The Church Addiction Recovery Program, a position he thoroughly enjoyed.

He is survived by his siblings, Lorleen “Joy” Wheeler, Dale (Karen) Murray, Georgeen (Tom) Baggs, Kevin (Sherri) Murray, Larry (Loa) Murray, Joseph (Jodi) Murray, and his children Dirk, Edela, Creche, Clayne, Falina, Beau, Shamra, Rigg, and Syrina, as well as his step-children Paul Flygare, Alan Flygare, Alys Hobbs, Mark Flygare, Brian Flygare, and David Flygare.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, JoAnn Murray, and siblings David Murray, and Tad Murray, as well as children Dirla Murray, Devin Murray and Tasche Stone.

Services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID). The family will welcome visitors from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Grant Central Cemetery.
