Jay R. Hobley of Lyman, Idaho died Wednesday September17, 2008.
He was born June 11, 1925 to Albert and Ida Hobley in Coltman, Idaho. He attended school in Rigby. He later joined the military where he served in the Army during WWII.
On September 18, 1948 Jay was married to Grace Green. Together they had five children. His work for Fluor Corp. took the family all over the United States including Iowa, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, and California. He also left the family for a year and a half to work in Kuwait. After his first wife Grace died, he married Sharon Ball on December 29, 1998.
He was committed to hard work, and served in the LDS church faithfully throughout his life. Jay’s family, especially his grandchildren, were his pride and joy. Service with a willing and happy heart was a constant throughout his life.
He is survived by wife Sharon, his sons Terry (Wanda) of Friendswood Texas, Randy (Katherine) of Richmond Texas, Ryan (Lark) of Clinton Utah, and Steven (Monica) of Sugar City. He is also survived by his sisters Elda (Wayne) Sucher of Idaho Falls, and Eva (Paul) Avery of Medford, Oregon, and brother in law Horace Hill of Lyman. He has 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, his daughter Brenda Hobley, his sister Faye Brooks, and sister Reva Hill.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008 in the Lyman 3rd Ward Chapel, 2041 W. 5200 S., Rexburg, The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:oo p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, both at the Church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
