James “J.D.” Dale Bloom, 83, of Rigby, died Sunday, December 26, 2010, at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg.
He was born April 23, 1927, in Flat River, Missouri to Paul Mason Bloom and Della May Slinkard Bloom. He was raised and attended grade schools in Flat River, Missouri and graduated from high school in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. On February 9, 1962, he married Leona Rae Bloom in Jackson, Wyoming; together they had two sons, and one daughter. J.D. Drove worked as a truck driver, and drove logging trucks in Colorado and Idaho for over 40 years and drove heavy equipment while constructing the Horse Tooth Dam in Colorado. He moved to Idaho in 1957.
J.D. enjoyed fishing, rock hounding, and the Heise Hot Pools, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, J.R. (Vicki) bloom, of Rigby, Mike (Wendy) Bloom, of Parker, Idaho, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, a daughter Debra May, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
