Jean B Hope loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. August 28, 2016. Jean was born on December 3, 1927 to Oral D Beck and Alice Wilson Beck. Jean grew up in Lyman, ID and spent some summers in Cranes Flat, ID where her dad homesteaded property. She graduated from Lyman High School then continued her education at Ricks College, graduating with an Associate Degree. On March 15, 1949 she married Ross J Hope in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Jean and Ross were blessed with three sons; Jim, Bob and Mike. During the first 16 years of their marriage they lived in Salem, ID where Ross farmed and Jean created a warm loving home and worked for the FHA. In May of 1965, the family moved to Las Vegas where Ross began working at the Atomic Energy Commission Test Site. This was a big change for all and Jean worked very hard to make certain their home was organized and the boys were adjusting to the new surroundings. Jean was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Some of her most enjoyable callings were working in the Las Vegas Temple with Ross and supporting Ross while he was a Bishop. She always said the years that Ross was Bishop were some of the happiest years of their life together. Jean loved being a grandmother. She never missed a birthday, wedding anniversary or holiday without sending a special card to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her talents and loves was writing poetry. Each of her children and most of her grandchildren have a special poem relating to a wedding date, buying their first home, athletic events, etc. Many of Jeans friends were also recipients of her poems. Jean is survived by her sons, Jim (Debbie) Hope of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Mike (Sandy) Hope of Las Vegas, NV, her brother, Kay Beck of Rexburg, ID, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Hope, son, Bob Hope, daughter-in-law Leza Hope, sister, June Madsen and brother, Rex Beck. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday September 3, 2016 at the Rolling Hills Ward LDS Chapel, 287 South 4th East, Rexburg ID. The family will welcome friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Rolling Hills Ward LDS Church. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
