Jean Vivian McCrary, 87, of Rigby, passed away September 11, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born February 21, 1921, in Rolling, Wisconsin to Charles “Gil” Maney and Libbie Jo Gillett Maney. She attended schools in Strasburg, Wisconsin. She served with the Woman’s Army Auxiliary Corp. from 1943 – 1944 and held the rank of Corporal.
She married Jack D. Pennell, they later divorced. In 1972 she moved to Hamer from Wisconsin and on June 12, 1975, she married Merlin McCrary in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. They lived in Terreton from 1975 to 2001, then moved to Rigby.
She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952 and served in the Relief Society, Sunday School and as Branch Secretary. She served three missions along with her husband to Iowa, California and Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of Terreton Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, genealogy, knitting; she was a good cook and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Merlin McCrary, of Rigby, a son, Jack “Wayne” (Liz) Pennell, of Rigby, two sisters, Marjorie Kock, and Celia Howe, and a brother, Glen Maney, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 in the Rigby East Stake Center, with Bishop Brett Olaveson, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
