Jeanette Virginia Scott Barnes passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Carriage Cove in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born September 21, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, the third of four children of Rudger DuWayne and Jannie Virginia Miller Scott. Her growing-up years were spent on a dairy farm in Ririe, Idaho, and her best friends during this time were also daughters of dairy farmers that were neighbors. During this time she not only helped with the dairy, but learned the special arts of crocheting, sewing, and quilting from her mother; which products of these skills have been shared with many. Jeanette attended Ririe Elementary School and Ririe High School graduating in 1964. She married Robert Thomas Barnes on October 17, 1964, in Ririe, Idaho. Three sons, Robert Lynn, Albert Lee, and Gary Dean, were born to this union. Robert passed away July 23, 1983, in Ririe, and Lynn passed away February 6, 1987, in Idaho Falls. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions including Relief Society Visiting Teacher District Supervisor, Humanitarian coordinator, visiting teacher, and Primary Teacher. She has spent countless hours doing humanitarian service by providing quilts, baby blankets, new-born supplies, dolls, and other items needed by the Church and other local humanitarian service centers. She could always be found helping friends she had made over the years in the places that she has worked. In her younger years, she enjoyed the many summer trips the family made to Yellowstone Park and fishing trips with the family. She worked for Westinghouse at the site, as a customer service representative at Fred Meyer, and for the last sixteen years at Melaleuca in product and customer support. She is survived by her sons, Lee (Shelene) and Gary of Ririe; brothers, Larry D.(Karen) and Gene (Lucille) of Ririe; sister, LuWayne (John) Nelson of Stanley, North Dakota; daughters-in-law, Hope Barnes and Beverly Ball; sister-in-law, Marcia Killian; grandchildren, Nick (Jennifer), Stetson (Christie), Chelsea, Austin, Jacob, and Cassidy; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, DuWayne and Virginia Scott; her husband, Robert; son, Lynn; grandparents, John Franklin and Minnie Lee Shipley Miller and Samuel Rudger and Esther Denning Scott. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Madison Carriage Cove for their love, kindness, and attentive care given to Jeanette; also the many friends and family that took the time to visit her. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Ririe First Ward LDS Chapel (Ririe Idaho Stake Center - 14061 North 130 East, Ririe, Idaho). The family will visit with family and friends on Monday evening, November 20, 2017, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. both at the stake center. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
