Jeanette Hebertsen

August 6, 1924 — December 6, 2006

Jeannette Cole Hebertson, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away of natural causes December 6, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Jeannette was born August 6, 1924, in Leadore, Idaho, to Charles and Lottie (Clarke) Cole. When she was two, her family moved to Ririe and then to Rigby when she was five. After attending school in Rigby, she completed one year of business school in Idaho Falls before marrying Tom Howard of Boise in 1942. She later married Dale Hebertson, but he died of kidney disease in 1948. Jeannette worked for over a decade with the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) which included making over three hundred stuffed teddy bears for children in trauma, crocheting blankets for needy newborns, driving the elderly and handicapped to doctor appointments, shopping or other requested destinations, and acting as legal guardian for nine patients. When pain prevented her from continuing to sew and crochet, she volunteered to listen to school children read in Idaho Falls School District 91. She was employed by J. C. Penney of Idaho Falls for nine years. She is survived by two sons: John Larry Howard and Kevin Hebertson, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, her second husband, and her six-month-old son, Kenneth Hebertson. Funeral services will be from 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Berean Baptist Church, 2975 E. 1st St., in Ammon, Idaho, with Pastor Todd Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:30 before the funeral service commences. Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery in Rigby, Idaho under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. A memorial fund has been set up for “Grandma Nett” in School District 91 Education Literacy Programs, 690 John Adams Pkwy.
