Jeffrey Mark Semmens Died: Wednesday, April 11, 2018 Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jeff was born January 29, 1952 in Pocatello, Idaho and lived in Pocatello until he was ten. His family moved to Brigham City, Utah and lived there while he finished elementary school. The family then relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he finished Jr. and Sr. High School. Jeff graduated from Western High School in Las Vegas in 1970. Upon graduation Jeff enrolled at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he graduated with a degree in Zoology with a Wildlife Management emphasis. He later earned an MBA from Stevens Henagar college. He lived in numerous places including Federal Way, WA, Mt. Angel, OR, Meridian, ID, Lehi, UT, and had recently moved to Rigby, Idaho to be near his family roots. Jeff is descended from early pioneers. Two 3rd great-grandfathers: Judson Tolman and Daniel Wood arrived in Utah territory in September 1848 with Brigham Young’s 2nd company. Daniel Wood was also one of the rescuers for the Martin and Willey handcart company. The Tolman family settled in Bountiful, Utah and some branched out to Chesterfield, Idaho. When Chesterfield was abandoned, a 2nd great-grandfather Joseph Holbrook Tolman moved one of his families to Inkom, Idaho and another family to Pocatello, Idaho. Jeff descended from the Pocatello branch of the family tree. Jeff married DeeAnn Sorensen and later divorced. Jeff, then married Shannon K. Shannon and later divorced. On May 4, 1996 Jeff married Carol Tacke in the Portland Oregon LDS Temple. Jeff is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Susan (husband David) Otteson, son Justin, and son Brian. Jeff is also survived by his parents, Ronald and Myrna Semmens, brother Lynn Semmens and sister-in-law Debbie Bates Semmens, brother Dana Semmens and sister-in-law Christine Reece Semmens. 10 grandchildren survive Jeff: Joshua (and wife Kensey), Mikaela (and husband Tyler), Aaron, Leora, Kenneth, Ethan, Raelynn, Nathaniel, Gabriel, and Erikah. One great-granddaughter, Kenady, survives Jeff along with 1 niece and several nephews. Jeff loved birds. He had a fascination with birds. He also loved guns of any kind. He loved to hunt, especially birds. He loved dogs as well, raising several Brittanys. The dogs were his hunting buddies, along with Carol. Carol once told Jeff she couldn’t believe somebody could love dogs as much as he does. They were family. Because of Jeff’s love of birds, dogs, and hunting he found a great part-time job at Cabela’s in Lehi, UT. Jeff was a very active and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held the office of a High Priest in the Melchizadek Priesthood. He touched numerous lives for the better. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby Idaho East Stake Center, 641 East 1st South, Rigby, ID. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:45 at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
