Jerry Kenneth Sproul was born August 6, 1942 to Clenna June Jackman and Kenneth Malcolm Sproul in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was the 4th of 9 children and the 2nd son. He grew up working on the 160-acre family farm in Pingree, Idaho. He milked cows morning and night, weeded their 40-60 acres of potatoes and helped bale hay when it was time. At a young age, he was throwing 100 lb hay bales over his head! When he wasn’t doing chores or teasing his 7 sisters, you would find him in the gym or the ball field. He loved playing basketball, baseball and was a great wrestler. Barely 5’8” he had a hook shot that couldn’t be stopped by the tallest guy on the court.
At 19, Jerry served an LDS mission in the New England area. These were the best years of his life. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved sharing it with others. Upon returning from his mission, he attended Brigham Young University where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He then got a job with the Internal Revenue Service and moved to Oakland, California. While in California, his first marriage brought his two eldest daughters, Denise and Krista. He loved being a dad and was very good at it! After their divorce, he transferred to Spokane, Washington where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Sue Giles Goodsell in the Idaho Falls temple. He was overjoyed to be daddy to her son, Bruce Goodsell. Linda and Jerry then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where they made their life of 43 years together. They added five children to the family; Zona, Jerilyn, Jerry K., Alisha and Kimilee. Jerry got his Certified Public Accountant license and started his own CPA firm, Jerry Sproul Inc. He, with the help of his family, have spent the past 40 years until present helping people understand their finances. Jerry had a firm testimony in his Savior, Jesus Christ and all He did for us. He modeled this perfectly through marriage, fatherhood and friendship with everyone he met. He was a gentle, kind and loving man with a sweet and peaceful spirit.
