Jessie Vilate Sharp, 90, of Grant, Idaho died Sunday, April 25, 2004 in Pocatello, Idaho.
Jessie was born January 15, 1914 in Grant, Idaho the daughter of Frances Ada Gardner and Pricilla Rose Randall Gardner. She attended schools in Rigby, Midway, Riverside and graduated from Blackfoot High School. She attended Nursing School in Idaho Falls, Idaho earning her LPN. She worked at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls with Dr. Bill Brunt and continued nursing into her seventies spending many hours caring for the sick and dying.
She married Joseph William Sharp in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on October 4, 1937. As a member of the LDS Church she served in the Relief Society as President and as a Councilor. She served in the Young Womens organization and Primary as Primary President. She served a mission to the Central States Mission in Kansas City, Missouri. and three spanish speaking missions for the Menan Stake with her husband..
She loved to sew, quilt, make porcelain dolls, decorate wedding cakes and loved to serve others.
She is survived by two daughters, JoAnn (Jared) Murray of Rigby, Idaho and Merna (Thomas) Summers of Pocatello, Idaho. A son, Marvin (Patsy) Sharp of Lyman, Wyoming. A sister, Mary Graff of Templeton, California and two brothers, Morris (Arthella) Gardner of Hamilton, Montana and Milton (Arla) Gardner of Brittish Columbia, Canada. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Sharp, her parents, two sisters, a brother, a grandson and a great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grant Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Alan Batt officiating. The family will meet with friends Wednesday, April 28, 2004 in the Grant Ward LDS Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Grant Ward LDS Chapel from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will in the Grant Central Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home.
