Jesus “Jesse” Huerta Torres, 91, peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family, on January 4, 2024.

He was born on September 20, 1932 in Atotonilea, Mexico to Luis and Juana Huerta Torres.

Jesse married Amelia Cuevas on November 7, 1953 in Baylor County, Texas. Together, they have nine children: Maria, Diana, Peggy, John, Rolando, Arnoldo, Ernest, Jesse and Peter.

During his life, Jesse worked at Ball Brothers for Ronald Ball, Idahoan Foods – FreshPak, and Rigby Produce.

Jesse attended the St. Anthony Perish in Roberts, Idaho. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, tinkering around in the backyard with mechanics, and riding his lawn mower to the Co-Op (Valley Wide).

Jesse loved his 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren very much. He always had candy in his pocket for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Juana Torres, and two brothers, Francisco Torres and Miguel Torres.

Jesse is survived by his wife Amelia of Menan; children: John (Sharry) Cuevas of Rigby, Rolando (Susan) Torres of Menan, Maria Torres of Menan, Diana (Rhett) Watson of Menan, Peggy (Brian) Wixom of Blackfoot, Arnoldo (DaniSue) Torres of Texas, Ernest Torres of Idaho Falls, Jesse Jr. (Vicki) Torres of Menan, and Peter Torres of Menan; a sister, Josefina Torres of Mexico, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jesse will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main St. Rigby ID 83442).  A viewing will precede the service at Eckersell's from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
