Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jimmy Wayne Gould, 78, of Rigby, died Sunday December 6, 2009, at EIRMC.
He was raised and attended schools in Durrant, Oklahoma. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and was stationed on the USS Mann. He then moved to Benicia, CA, where he married Arie Kathryn Alexander, together, they had 3 children, Nona, James, and Rhona. They later divorced. On March 10, 1964, he married “his precious” Yvonne Coles, they had one son, Wayne. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple July 13, 1984. Jimmy worked at Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah for 25 years, as a transportation officer, and later as an OSHA inspector. After retiring in 1993 he and Yvonne moved to Rigby.
Jim loved to travel and sights see with Yvonne, on their Honda 750, he was an active bowler and won the Utah Bowling Championship. He was an Avid golfer, enjoyed chariot racing, HAM radio, taught ballroom dance, and was a very good dancer, he was a square dance caller, and a private pilot. Jim especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was an active member of the LDS church, serving as Elders Quorum President, a member of the bishopric, home teacher, High Priests Leader, and many others. He also served a mission In the Jordan River Temple, in Utah.
He is survived by his wife; Yvonne L. Gould, of Rigby, daughters; Nona (Steve) Shoff, of Idaho Falls, Rhonda Mathews, of Montgomery, AL, sons; James Robert Gould, of Wisconsin, Wayne Lynn Gould, of Dugway, Utah, a sister, Joy Dee Riley, of Oklahoma, a brother, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bobby Gould.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009, at the Shelton Ward LDS Church. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
