Joan Autry Olson

Joan McFate Autry Olson returned to her Father in Heaven Aug. 14, 2018, in Sandy, Utah.  Joan was born Aug. 11, 1939 in Rexburg, Idaho to Ella Bernice Baker McFate and Jay Gibson McFate; the oldest of five children.

She graduated from Ammon High School in 1957.  She met her first husband, Vernon Clayborn Autry, while working at Westinghouse in Arco, Idaho.  They were married February 14, 1958 in Ucon, Idaho.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple; October 29, 1994. Vern passed away November 21, 2007.  She then married Ronald “Dee” Olson on July 17, 2010.  He was a wonderful companion, whom she loved greatly.  Dee passed away February 11, 2014.

Joan worked with Avon, first in sales and then later as a manager.  One year she won a trip to Rome because of her hard work.  She enjoyed going to the Temple, church and activities with her Kearny 2nd ward.  She loved meeting new people as well as spending time with friends and family.

She was a loving, kind, and giving person who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Clay and Charles “Chuck” (Jane), daughter, Debra Jo Stevenson, eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, James R. Autry, a granddaughter, Camille “Cami” Autry, her first husband Vern, and her second husband, Dee.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 11:00am at Eckersell Funeral Home, ( 101 West Main ) in Rigby, Idaho with a viewing at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow at the Ammon Cemetery.
