In loving memory of Jody C Jewkes, 61, of Idaho Falls, who passed away after a long battle with multiple cancers at his home on October 27, 2020.
Jody was born May 28, 1959, in Price, Ut, to Thomas Samuel Jewkes and Wilma Cooper Jewkes and was the third son and child.
Jody was a faithful member and High Priest of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings throughout his life, with his favorite being a nursery leader. He loved the little ones! Children in the ward knew they could always come to him for Smarties or Sixlets every Sunday. He loved the gospel and showed that through his example of Christ-like love and service to all. He didn’t bear his testimony much because every time he did he would cry and he didn’t like to do that. His testimony was shown more through his kind, loving actions to others on a daily basis. Everyone that knew him knew that if they needed help, Jody was the one to call because he would always drop everything to help them. Even in the last week of his life he was apologizing to those whom he hadn’t had enough time to get to or finish helping them with their furnace, A/C, or whatever.
As Jody and Suzee’s grandchildren were born he was always so thrilled! He loved cuddling them and putting them to sleep on his chest, then falling asleep himself. He loved his family and worked extra hard to make sure he met all their needs as best he could. He loved working and playing with them, but mostly playing with them. He always put the needs of his family above his own, in fact when he and Suzee would go to dinner he would always eat extra bread or whatever was offered for free so he could take the majority of his meal home to his kids, Sarah being the most frequent recipient of these meals. He loved his wife, Suzee, and their children deeply and sacrificed many long hours working to be able to pay for them to live their dreams.
Jody was very handy and could fix almost anything. He passed this ability on to his children, giving them the drive to learn to do anything they put their minds to. He was always ready with a quick smile, handshake or hug. He never complained and did what he could to make others laugh, even when he was in a lot of pain himself. All of the nurses, staff, doctors and even patients loved him and were the recipients of his teasing and pranks.
Jody will be missed by all who knew him but mostly by his children, grandchildren and especially his wife.
Jody is survived by his wife, Suzee Jewkes of Idaho Falls, Id; daughters Jennifer Michelle (Michael) Thorne of Eagle Mountain, Ut; Chelsey Alise (Jacob) Muldowney of Rock Springs, Wy; son, Jesse Cameron Jewkes of Idaho Falls, Id; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Jewkes of Idaho Falls, Id; daughter from a previous marriage, Nicole Warfield Hart of Missouri; parents, Tom and Wilma Jewkes; brothers, Kerry C (Cindy) Jewkes of Taylorsville, Ut; brother, Kyle S Jewkes of Deer Lodge, Mt; Clair C (Ruby) Jewkes of Vernal, Ut; and ten grandchildren, Sydney, Savannah, Truman, Joanna, Amelia, Margaret, Charlotte, Esther, Bridget and Ephraim.
