Joel Norman Green

Joel Norman Green, 76, of Rigby, Idaho, formerly of McCammon, Idaho, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at his home.

Joel was born September 11, 1943 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to George Newel Green and Velma Lowry Green. He was raised and attended elementary school in McCammon and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in Arimo, Idaho where he participated in wrestling, baseball and FFA.  He continued his education at Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho and Brigham Young University, Provo Utah.

On June 1, 1966 he married and was sealed to Carol Ann Ayres in the Logan, Utah Temple. They were blessed with 1 son and 3 daughters.  Joel was an Instructor of Diesel Mechanics at Idaho State University for 25 years, retiring in 2000.  He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in Ireland in 1963.  In 2008, he and Carol served in the Adam-ondi-Ohman mission in Missouri.  They also served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples after returning home from their mission.  Joel loved spending time with his family and enjoyed team roping.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Green of Rigby, Idaho; daughters, Trisha (Ron) Davies of Clayton, Idaho, Sherri (Brent) Kunz of Rigby, Idaho, Kerri (Steve) Farnsworth of Chubbuck, Idaho; son, John Green of Rigby, Idaho; sister, Sharon (Harry) Stephens of Pocatello, Idaho; brothers, Keith Green of Meridian, Idaho, Jesse (Michaela) Green of Kuna, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma Green.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho. Services are under the care of Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby.
