John Earl Cabral

John Earl Cabral, 82, of Island Park, Idaho, died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg. He was born June 3, 1928, in Watsonville, California to John G. Cabral and Nora Stone Cabral. He was raised in Freedom, California. He joined the US Navy on May 23, 1946, and served as a cook until March 22, 1948 with an Honorable Discharge. He was a Mason and held a seat in the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and worked in construction throughout his life. He was married in 1949 to his first wife and had 2 sons, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; she died of heart failure in 1985. He married his second wife in 1980 and gained a daughter. In August 2010, they were married 30 years. During their marriage they had a tow truck business for 7 years in the high sierra’s, raised 30 head of (cows) cattle, 27 Arabian and Quarter Horses. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, breeding and showing (dogs) boxers, and carved ironwood. John became ill in 1991, he fought hard for his life but lost his fight on September 12, 2010, he will be missed. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Brown and her Fiancé, Neil Banks, of Shelley, Idaho, sons, Mike (Melody) Cabral, of Magalia, California, Mark (Jeri) Cabral of San Jose, California, three grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Military Rites will be by the Jefferson County Veterans Team. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
