John Phillip Davis, age 77, of Rigby, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Rigby Lake Assisted Living.
He was born March 2, 1944, to Fontella Ricks Davis and Jay Phillip Davis in Rexburg, Idaho, the only son with 4 sisters. He attended schools in Sugar City, Idaho, graduating from Sugar-Salem High School. He then joined the US National Guard and was a cook. Following his service, he returned home and worked in various potato warehouses in the area. He had a passion for automobiles and worked as an automobile mechanic with G & J Auto Repair.
He loved working on cars and going to classic car shows with his 1931 Model A Coupe. He enjoyed fishing, and fly fishing and made his own flies. He was a member of AA with 43 yrs. of sobriety; he loved helping people in AA. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in the scouting program.
John is survived by his daughter Johnna (Joe) Cummings of Clinton, Utah; sisters, Phyllis (Jerry) Jones of Syracuse, Utah and Jane (Don) Buffum of Blackfoot, Idaho; and 3 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Janet Davis and Sylvia Hatton.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2022 at LaBelle 3rd Ward Chapel, 4223 East 528 North, Rigby, Idaho 83442.
The family would appreciate any contributions be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
