John Everett Gneiting, age 88, of Salmon, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at the Rexburg Nursing Center in Rexburg, Idaho.
John was born April 30, 1916, at Dubois, Idaho a son of John and Esther West Gneiting. He married Jennie Zweifel on October 15, 1936 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He served with the United States Navy during World War II. He married Jennie Zweifel in Idaho Falls on October 15, 1936.
He broke horses at Medicine Lodge where he was known as John West. He was involved on the last roundup with Wood and Livestock. He lived in Salmon and worked for the fish hatchery and logged in Salmon. He helped to build the Dorshack Dam and the Dent Bridge in Orofino. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding horses especially his horse Stockings.
Survivors include: a daughter Carma Decius of Clarkston, Washington and a son Floyd Gneiting of Roberts, Idaho, 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sons Gary and Dean and 1 daughter Vicki Jo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 9, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Sunday August 8, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
