Jon (Jonnie) Edward Caudle was born January 6, 1957, in Monticello, Indiana, to Stanley Floyd Caudle and Shirley Bowsher Caudle. He passed away suddenly at his home on October 7, 2023.
The family moved from Indiana to Terreton, Idaho, when Jon was 11. In a few years, they purchased a farm in Monteview. Jon, along with his brothers, Kevin and Rick, had to learn quickly how to grow and harvest hay and grain while their father worked.
Jon attended school at Terreton Junior High and West Jefferson High School and graduated in 1975. During high school, he met and married Terry Valantine Park, and they had a daughter, Jenny Ann. They later divorced. He married Cindy Mackay and they had a son, Tony Jon. Jon and Cindy celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary last December.
Jon was always busy at work and play. During high school he worked for Merlin Byrne on his farm and shared many fun stories from that time. He also worked for Tractor Sales as a baler and stack wagon mechanic, Suburban Propane installing heating and appliances, and Ray Dean filling spray planes. Jon attended VoTech to become certified in refrigeration so he could take care of the coolers and freezers at his mother's grocery stores. Jon helped run the family farm for 40+ years until he retired. He was able to move onto fun projects and hobbies, such as collecting and restoring his beloved classic Dodge cars, talking on the phone to friends and family, finding bargains at auctions, and spending hours on improvements around the home and yard. He was also known for the huge Christmas display at their home in Terreton.
Jon was quick to tease but he was always willing to help anyone. He was a source of sound advice on many matters. He is gone too early and will be greatly missed.
Jon is survived by his wife, Cindy of Terreton; his daughter, Jenny Caudle of Idaho Falls; his son, Tony Caudle of Terreton; four grandchildren, Dakota, Stanley, Colton and Crystal Scruggs; and 14 great-grandkids; his brother, Kevin (Glenna); and Rick (Debbie) of Terreton.
Per his wishes, Jon was cremated. A graveside service will be held on October 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the West Jefferson Cemetery in Terreton with a luncheon to follow at the ALC building 1256 E 1500 N Terreton (white building between the two school buildings).
In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be made to the Mud Lake Museum or a cause of your choice.
