Joseph Lloyd Burt, 29, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011.
He was born on April 9, 1981, in Rexburg, Idaho to Russell and Linda Burt.
Growing up Joe lived in Parker Idaho, Bountiful Utah, and Rigby Idaho. As a young boy he played the trumpet, participated in the scouting program and JROTC and enjoyed attending gun shows, hunting, snowboarding and spending time with family and friends.
Joe graduated from Rigby High School in 1999, and then worked in construction until 2002 when he joined the United States Army. There he served for several years, including a tour of duty in Iraq, with the 3rd Infantry, being one of the first units into Baghdad.
He is survived by his grandmothers, Joyce Chapple and Lola Galloway; father, Russell Alan Burt; siblings, Stephanie( Chris )Mahoney, Andrew Burt, Angela (Clint) Grover, Laura (Tyson) Allen, nieces and nephews, Jessica, Wesley, Alyssa, Haylee, Kayla, Matthew, Eli, Saydee, Baylee, Jayden, Tyler, and Elly.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bobby Niendorf, Earl Chapple, and William Eugene Burt; mother, Linda Burt; Aunt, Barbara Sanchez; brothers, Russell Eugene Burt and Mathew Alan Burt; and niece, Mya Mae Allen.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Rigby South Stake Center, 106 North 3800 East. The family will receive visitors from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street in Rigby and from 11:00 am to 11:45 am prior to the services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
