Joseph Edelmayer, age 78, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Gables of Ammon. Jospeh was born in Roberts, Idaho June 22, 1939 a son to John Peter Edelmayer and Ora May Trembly Edelmayer. He was raised in Roberts attending Roberts schools, graduating from Roberts High School in 1957. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and trapping. He married Bonnie Fowler in November of 1957. To this union was born six children, Nita, Jody, Lyn, Kathleen, Sheila and Mark. They were later divorced. In 1980, he moved to the Treasure Valley area where he worked various jobs doing general labor. In 1991, he moved to Pine in the Sawtooth Forest. He loved the mountains and the river valley. In 1998 he suffered a brain aneurysm and he returned to the Idaho Falls area to be near family. He is survived by his children, Nita (Bryan) Bird of Declo, Idaho, Lyn (Glenn) Gaumitz of Idaho Falls, Kathleen Edelmayer of Rigby, Sheila (Lane) Sommer of Rexburg, Jody (Valerie) Edelmayer of Rexburg and Mark (Monica) Edelmayer of Hyde Park, Utah, two sisters, Barbara (Barry) Miller of Daytona Beach, Florida, Nelda McCormick of Seattle, Washington, a sister-in-law Vonda Rising of Nampa, a brother William Edelmayer of Idaho Falls, 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and May Edelmayer, siblings, Grace Rising, Bruce Rising, Roger Rising, Mary Osborn, Doris Benger, Delette Speelmon, Jack Edelmayer, Jim Edelmayer and Darlene Edelmayer. Funeral services will be held at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Market Lake Cemetery in Roberts, Idaho.
