Joseph R. Mcrae

Joseph “Joe” R. McRae, 82, of Rigby, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Golden Pines Assisted Living Center in Rigby. He was born April 3, 1926, in Independence, Idaho to Joseph Andrew McRae and Elzada Raty McRae. He was raised in Independence and attended school in Independence and Rigby. On December 28, 1948, he married Jane L. Weekes in Archer, their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked for various farmers and in various potato warehouses in the area and for the saw mill in Rexburg. Joe was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, farming, tinkering, and the care he received at Golden Pines. He is survived by two daughters, Glenna J. Danielson, of Lewisville, Jolene R. (Donald) Holmes, of Parker, a stepdaughter, Dorothy H. Burkman, of Idaho Falls, two sons, Dan J. (Teresa) McRae, Bart J. McRae, both of Rexburg, three sisters, Ethel (Bob) Sutton, of Sun City, CA, Judy (Bill) Bennett, of Idaho Falls, Ina (Jerry) Moore, of Iona, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant brother, a sister, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Burton 3rd Ward Chapel, 3958 W. 2000 S., with Bishop Tim R. McGary, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, 101 W. Main St., and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, at the church. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
