Joseph Elden Packer, 60, of Rigby, passed away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Joseph was born January 9, 1956 at Malhner, Oregon a son to Eldon Ross Packer and Irene Erma Willden Miller. He was raised in Garfield attending school in Rigby. He married Elaine Grover, November 24, 1976 in Rigby, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 16, 1983. He worked with Hayes Construction then for Logan Farm Equipment then at Idaho Steel when he studied welding at Eastern Idaho Technical College and was currently working at Yellowstone Welding. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in the scouting program, ward clerk, primary and nursery. He loved his wife and family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, welding, restoring old cars, gardening, yardwork, outdoors, making grandkids happy and handing out candy to all children. He is survived by his wife Elaine Packer of Rigby, three daughters: Jill Marie (Kevin) Lowe of Rigby, Lacy Jo Moedl of Rigby and Kylie Ann (Woody) Warren of Casper, Wyoming, two sons: Jacob Ray (Jenni) Packer and Rusty J Packer both of Rigby. Four sisters: Joyce Nelson of Idaho Falls, Judy (Wade) Mason of Twin Falls, Jannet (Barry) Seeklander of Buhl, Idaho and June (Steve) Laraway of Meridian, Idaho, two brothers: John Ace (Dora) Packer of Denver, Colorado and Jerry Ray (Debbie) Packer of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and sixteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jeannie Marie Draper. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Church at 364 North 4100 East, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
