Joseph Milton "Sock" Raymond

Joseph Milton “Sock” Raymond, 98, of Menan, died at his home Friday, October 31, 2003. Sock was born January 2, 1905 at Plain City, Utah a son of Orson Curtis Raymond and Ann Rawson Raymond. He attended Menan Schools graduating from Midway High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Amy Dean “Pat” Harkness May 12, 1945 in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 21, 1961. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Sock served in many position and at the age of 86 he and his wife Pat served a mission for the church to Raleigh, North Carolina. He lived and farmed in Menan most of his life. He spent 6 years of his life in Alaska where he prospected and worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing, music, dancing and family. Survivors include: His wife Pat Raymond of Menan 1 daughter Annette (Dave) Smart of Gilbert, Arizona 5 sons Jay H. (Kay) Raymond of Grant Noel M. (LaDee) Raymond of Menan Van J. (Dianne) Raymond of Roberts Dee L. (Barbara) Raymond of Lewisville Ken E. (Jayna) Raymond of Vancouver, Washington 1 sister Lettie Hale of LasVegas, Nevada 1 brother W.J. Bill Raymond of Menan 33 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 sisters, 3 brothers and 1 son Don Raymond Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan LDS Stake Center, 698 North 3600 East, Menan). The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main Street, Rigby) and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home. Contributions to Hospice of Eastern Idaho would be appreciated by the family.
