Julia Theola Schofield, 87, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Julia was born December 26, 1921, in Ririe, Idaho a daughter of Frederick Rasmus Christensen and Lizzie Maude Coles Christensen. She was raised in Antelope, Idaho and attended school in Antelope and Ririe. Julia married Claude Carlyle in the early 1940’s. They were later divorced. She worked at the Lincoln Sugar Factory, at the Pea house in Ririe sorting peas, for Clover Club in Idaho Falls for a couple of years and around the area as a house keeper. She married Ray Leeland Schofield on October 18, 1975 in Elko, Nevada. Julia belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She lived in Hagerman for thirty years before moving back to Idaho Falls. Julia enjoyed reading, sewing, camping, fishing, flowers, gardening, was a great cook and loved to have the company of her family.
Julia is survived by her son Blair (Donna) Carlyle of Jackson, Wyoming, three sisters Doris Sermon of Shelley, Annie (Bud) Johnson of Idaho Falls, and Wanda Larsen of Ririe, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Ray, one daughter Jinx, one sister Eva Haymond, four brothers Jay, Archie, Newel, and Gayland Christensen.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
