Julie Ann Chavez, 48 of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from complications of diabetes. Julie was born February 1, 1968 in Ohio to Gary Thronson and Barbara Lyman Thronson. She was raised and attended schools in Beulah, North Dakota and Livingston, Montana, graduating from Livingston, High School. She was active in high school rodeo and won the North Dakota State High School Barrel Racing Championship. She was also active in 4-H and won several grand champion awards for sheep. She married Tony Greg Chavez October 26, 1996 in Rigby, Idaho; together they had 2 daughters, Kalie Mae Chavez and Erin Michelle Chavez. Julie was a member of the Lutheran Church. She worked in highway construction in Montana and Idaho, she also loved and raised miniature schnauzers. She enjoyed outdoor activities with family, loved to travel and enjoyed shopping. She is survived by her husband, Tony Chavez, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, daughters, Kalie Mae Chavez of Rigby, Erin Michelle Chavez of Idaho Falls, brother , Chris (Regina) Thronson of North Carolina, 4 grandchildren, and her beloved schnauzers, Tilly, Tanita, Pepper, Spirit and Bullet as well as her loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 with visitation from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, both at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. Burial will take place at Strickland Creek Cemetery in Livingston, Montana. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at
