Our beloved mother, Julie Lytle, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away on June 17, 2023 leaving behind the pain and suffering she endured while ill the last year. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her son’s home surrounded by all of her loved ones at the time of her passing.
Julie was born on January 9, 1944 to Regino Landeros and Marie Jesus Romero in Toppenish, Washington. Julie was one of 8 children. At the age of 16 she fell in love with Joe Castillo and ran off with him. She made a home with Joe and had three beautiful children from this union, Rick Castillo, Theresa Castillo, and Diana Alquicira. This union ended in 1966. Later in life Julie met another love Larry Billman and moved to Oregon where they had a beautiful daughter, Lisa Griffith. Julie moved her children back to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She then met Charles Lytle and they had a handsome son named Harley Lytle. She later divorced. She married Fransisco Castro in 2008.
Julie attended Glenn E. Clark Business College and earned her business degree. Julie pursued a career with Argonne National Laboratory as a Secretary. She then worked her way up as a Senior Business/Operations Specialist with EG&G Idaho, Inc. in the legal department.
Julie loved to fish and in the earlier years you would find her with her fishing pole in one hand and her secret weapon for catching the fish in the other hand. She also enjoyed gardening, creating all kinds of crafts, knitting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A lot of people did not know her hidden talent but she had a beautiful singing voice.
Julie was preceded by her parents, Regino and Marie Romero, her sisters, Nellie and Ana, and her grandson Teegan Waid. She is survived by her husband Nicolas Castro, as well as her children Rick Castillo, Theresa Castillo, Diana (Martin) Alquicira, Lisa (Scott) Griffith, and Harley (Michelle) Lytle. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho 83442 on June 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately after at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Idaho Falls. A Celebration of Life for Julie will be held at The Sugar Shack of the Eagles Lodge at 635 Hemmert Avenue, Idaho Falls from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
