June Bates Josephson, 90, of Chesterfield, died Friday, December 05, 2008, at her home.
She was born August 8, 1918, in Chester, to Ernest George Bates and Mary Ellen Brown Bates. She graduated from Teton High School. On December 11, 1939 she married Morris Arnold Josephson in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
June was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions of leadership and teaching. She served two missions, first, in the Tennessee, Nashville mission and later a Family History, mission in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading and music. Most important in her life was being “Mom” to her five children, and a best friend to her husband Morris.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Soderstrom, of Denair, CA, Verna (Garry) Lerwill, of Tetonia, Arva (Forrest) Kortum-Shaw, of Chandler, AZ, two sons, Darwin (Marianne) Josephson, of Chesterfield, Theron (Ceytru) Josephson, of Rigby, five sisters, Laura Arnold, of Sandy, UT, Gweneth Shepherd, of Sandy, Wanda Brower, of Victor, Twila Worthington, of Billings MT, Carol Pyne, of Orem, UT, four brothers, Orrin Bates, of Rexburg, Derrold Bates, of Pocatello, Cloyd Bates, of Burlington, WY, Marvin Bates, of Tucson, AZ, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Josephson, three sisters, Leonora Teninty, Neva Barrett, Velda McKellar, four brothers, Hyrum Bates, Merrill Bates, Irvin Bates and Steven Bates.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Tetonia 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.
