June Breitkreutz Cowan Yates, age 88, of Ririe, died in Idaho Falls, Wednesday July 20, 2011. June was born June 15, 1923 at Groton, South Dakota a daughter of Bernhard Frank Breitkreutz and Cecelia Susan Graff Breitkreutz. She attended McKinley grade school in Aberdeen, South Dakota and graduated from Aberdeen High School. In high school she was the editor of the high school newspaper. She worked in the Ship yards in Richmond, California as a time keeper for bosses during World War II. She married LeRoy Cowan, April 11, 1948 in Richmond, California. He preceded her in death June 13, 1952 in California. She married Jerald Charles Yates, July 3, 1964 in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. She was a volunteer in the Idaho Falls Good Samaritan Center in Idaho Falls and in the Ririe Grade School. She was raised Episcopal and converted to the LDS Church in 1959 where she was an active member serving in various callings but especially enjoyed teaching Sunday school, and was an avid temple attender. She is survived by four daughters: Linda (Gene) Killian of Ammon, Idaho; Zee Rae Yates of Olympia, Washington; Denne (Brent) Meng of Ucon, Idaho; and Dixie Lynn (Dick) Gardner of Ammon, four sons: L. Frank (Jacqueline) Cowan of Highland, Utah; Carl Thomas (Dawn Etta) Cowan of Rigby, Idaho; Bernard Franklin (Valerie) Cowan of Rigby, Idaho; and Connie Yates of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and one sisters: Betty Jane Cowan of Bakersfield, California;36 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a brother, two sisters, a son Vic Yates, a granddaughter, a grandson, and a great grandson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ririe L.D.S. Stake Center, with Bishop Mike Richards officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby; and Tuesday 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Ririe – Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
