Kade Mckinlay

August 6, 2004 — December 17, 2021

Kade McKinlay was the youngest of three children born to Jeff and Kristy (Raymond) McKinlay on August 6, 2004 in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was called home to his Father in Heaven doing what he loved on December 17, 2021 in Teton County, Idaho.  He completed the McKinlay family and was a much-welcomed addition to his active and prankster siblings Alli and Trey.  He learned to keep up at a very young age and never slowed down.

Kade knew what it meant to be a good friend and had many good friends in return.  He was a man of few words but he was honest, kind-hearted, loving and devoted.  He was very affectionate and gave the best hugs.  He worked and played alongside his Dad, loved to tease his Mom (like hiding her puzzle pieces from her) and dedicated a lot of his time to visiting and serving his grandparents.

Kade wasn’t afraid to be himself and was definitely unique.  Kade lived his best life every day, knew how to work and knew how to play.  He was always happy, had a contagious smile, was primed and ready to have fun, was not afraid to try something new and encouraged others to push harder and be better.  He made the most difficult stunts and moves look effortless and easy.  He was a fierce competitor; flip master and he definitely mastered the shrug.

Kade truly appreciated the masterpiece God created here on earth and appreciated his sunrises and sunsets.  He loved any outdoor activity and loved spending time with family and friends at the cabin.  He loved to play in the snow and couldn’t wait for it to snow every year.  He loved jeep trips, riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, hunting, fishing, boating, surfing and wakeboarding.   He was a natural athlete and excelled at many things and especially loved golf.  Kade also loved chocolate milk, powdered doughnuts, biscuits and gravy, hanging out in the McDonalds parking lot, lunch at Fiesta Ole and French dips at Grandma McKinlay’s house.

Kade had an engineer’s mind and way of thinking.  He designed and built amazing things out of any and everything.  Growing up, he used popsicle sticks to create modifications to all of his toys. Nothing was off limits.  He was an amazing welder for being so young.  He loved his pickup, enjoyed fixing it up and was always excited to show family and friends the new “addition” to his masterpiece.

Kade came across as quiet, until you got him alone.  He liked to sneak up and surprise people. He was a very confident, kind, loving, caring and supportive young man.  He was also one of Alli and Trey’s biggest fans throughout everything from school sports to riding, boating, and everything in between. He loved them very much and looked up to both of them.  His mom was his cherished friend and his Dad was his hero.

Kade was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Kristy (Raymond) McKinlay, his siblings Alli (Keegan) Crapo, Trey McKinlay, grandparents Gordon and Wendy McKinlay and Paul and Connie Raymond, great grandparents Jean Thingelstad and Herman Akre, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all miss and love him deeply.  He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents (Forbush and Raymond) and paternal great grandparents (McKinlay).
