Karen Morris Foster, 85, departed this earthly life on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 3, 1940, to Rae Nola Baker and William Ormond Morris in Cedar City, UT. She was the younger sister to Carlene and Roena, and the older sister to Della Rae, Neal, and Valorie.
Growing up in Greenville, UT, she enjoyed a wonderful childhood playing with her siblings and cousins, who were her best friends and playmates. She attended Belknap Elementary School, Draper and Orem Jr. High Schools, and graduated from Orem High School.
She spent her childhood days walking fenceposts, roller skating, collecting coins and rocks, and playing night games under the streetlights. She loved splashing in irrigation water and climbing trees, where she would stay for hours watching cars drive by. It was said she spent more time on her head than her feet, doing cartwheels and handstands. During her high school years and throughout her life she enjoyed participating in sports, including volleyball, basketball, and softball.
She married Glen Ray Foster on July 22, 1960, in the Logan, UT Temple. Together they had seven children: Terry (Debbie), Annette (Clark), Debbie (Keri), Michael (Misty), Shelley (Bryon), Marie (Myron), and David (Alicia). They lived the early years of their marriage in Orem, UT, and in 1973 moved to their forever home in Rigby, ID.
Karen had a pure heart and always wanted to do what was right. She was an active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life, serving in many positions in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women’s organizations. Her favorite calling was always as a Primary teacher. She had a gift for teaching little children and loved them with the pure love of Jesus Christ. In her later years, she treasured her time as a temple worker.
Service was her love language. She will be remembered for picking up sacks of potatoes and delivering them to widows, knitting stockings, hats, and gloves for those around her, and quilting many, many blankets. She was talented with handiwork and crocheted, knitted, and sewed many treasured keepsakes. She loved picking huckleberries and maintained a large garden for most of her life, from which she canned food for her family to enjoy. She was a genealogist extraordinaire and had a lifelong love for seeking out her ancestors even traveling to England to search for the lost records of her great-great-grandfather. In her later years, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles with her posterity when life settled down.
Her best-loved job was being a mother and grandmother, but she was also employed as a secretary, office manager, and school bus driver for special needs children. She treasured the children she transported and was always tender and kind to them.
Karen is survived by her faithful husband of 65 years, seven children, 34 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nola and William Morris; her sisters, Carlene Jepperson and Roena Stevens; and her brother, Neal Morris.
