Karen Hatton Hernandez

Karen Hatton Hernandez, 63 of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her home.

Karen was born June 4, 1958 in Rexburg, Idaho to Richard Ruland Hatton and Silvia Fon Davis Hatton. She grew up in and attended school in Iona, Idaho and later graduated from Bonneville High School. She continued her education at Rick's college and shortly after decided to serve a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karen served her mission in Ecuador. After her mission, she went back to school at Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School and graduated with her associates in nursing. August 8, 1988, she married Jose Luis Alvarez Hernandez in Idaho Falls, Idaho and were sealed for time and all eternity a year later in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with 2 daughters and 4 sons, and raising her younger sister-in-Law, Carmella, as an honorary daughter with her family in Rigby, Idaho. In addition to being a wife and mother, Karen worked as a nurse at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Karen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved being outdoors; fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, and spending time at her fish pond were some of her favorite outdoor activities. She was an artist having a talent for painting and was also an excellent caretaker and mom!
She is survived by her husband, Jose L. Hernandez of Rigby, Idaho; Daughters, Carmela (Cody) Radford, Rebecca Hernandez and Rachel Hernandez, sons Michael Hernandez, Matthew (Christina) Hernandez, Mitchell J. (Harley) Hernandez and Marcus Hernandez,

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Sylvia Hatton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at LaBelle 2 ^nd Ward Chapel, 4223 East 528 North, Rigby, Idaho 83442.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, at the Church.  Interment will follow in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.  Services are in care of Eckersell Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
