Karen Briscoe Miller passed away October 30, 2026, in Idaho Falls, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 18, 1960 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Glen and Elsie Briscoe. Karen lived a full life of service, sacrifice, joy and devotion to her family and her faith. She was raised in Rigby, Idaho, one of seven children born to the Briscoes. She graduated from Rigby High School and later attended Ricks College and BYU, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics.
After graduating, she taught school in Randolph, Utah before marrying Drew Miller, a longtime friend from Menan, Idaho, whom she began dating while she taught school.
Karen and Drew were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple July 20, 1983. Together, they were blessed with five children. Karen and Drew worked together to raise their family with Karen manning the homefront while Drew worked outside the home. Karen was a wonderful mother and put her skills in home economics to use while raising her children utilizing excellent seamstress skills to create clothing, stuffed animals, quilts, and costumes for her children.
An avid reader and life long learner, Karen could always be found with a book or three tucked at her side with an e-reader ready in case she finished them too quickly. Her love of a good story extended to her appreciation for good movies especially in the historical genre. She enjoyed cooking and gained a reputation as an amazing cook focusing on delicious, nutritious food that filled the stomachs and hearts of those in her care. She especially enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen creating new dishes or tweaking old favorites in interesting and scrumptious ways, a hobby her husband enthusiastically encouraged. Her creativity shone through in her crafting and stamping and her curiosity and commitment to caring for her loved ones developed into an interest in medicinal plants and holistic medicine through her own research and a variety of continuing education classes.
Karen had a deep love of music and shared it with her family and friends through singing in many choirs and musical groups in addition to playing piano and organ in her home and her many music callings. Her home was often filled with music and she encouraged her children to learn to play instruments when their interest and opportunity allowed.
She was a devoted, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A lover of genealogy and family history, Karen held callings as a stake genealogist. She also served as Sunday School teacher, pianist, and organist among many other callings as she served in any capacity that was needed. She had a life-long love for the temple and served as a temple worker with her husband for several years, loving spending time there whether as a patron or worker.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Drew Miller (Rigby, Idaho); her children, Jakob Miller (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Jared Miller (Lehi, Utah), Melissa Chantry (Twin Falls, Idaho), Katie Miller (Twin Falls, Idaho), and Aaron Miller (Woods Cross, Utah); and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glen J. Briscoe, and her mother, Elsie Swann Briscoe.
Karen's legacy will live on through the lessons she taught, the people she served, and the family she nurtured and loved with all the energy of her wonderful heart.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Red Brick Building, located at 401 W 1st S, Rigby, Idaho. Internment will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
