Karen Hinckley Reno, 83 of Rexburg, Idaho passed away Sunday November 12th, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Perry Vivian Hinckley and Rula Bell Stevens on January 20th 1940.
Karen spent her years growing up in Rexburg and Canyon Creek and Graduated Madison High School in 1958. She married the love of her life Ernest (Ernie) Paul Reno June 17th 1960 at her family home in Rexburg and was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple. They lived in Pocatello for the first three years and then moved to Hibbard where they raised their five children. After their children were raised, they sold their home and moved to Salem and spent the next ten years. After Ernie died, she sold their home in Salem and moved back into Rexburg for the next 12 years and in 2016 she sold that home and moved to Archer where she spent the rest of her life.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many different callings, including being on the primary board, young woman’s leader, Relief Society president, the Nursery leader (which was her favorite), and also loved singing in the choir.
Our Mom held several different jobs through the years one of her favorites being The Carousel (The Hallmark Store) in Rexburg. Many of us still have trinkets from her years there. When she retired, she loved keeping herself busy doing needle point, quilting, crocheting, embroidering and spent 7 years as a temple ordinance worker in the Rexburg temple.
Karen is survived by her children Kelli (Brent) Hardy of Menan, Kevin (Terri) Reno of Kuna, Todd Reno of Merdian, Patti Reno of Idaho Falls and Becky (James) Hatch of Tetonia, 1 brother Kent (Bonnie) Hinckley of Salt Lake, 3 sisters-in-law Gaynell Hinckley of Blackfoot, Sharon Hinckley of Rexburg and Mary Hanson of Salt Lake City, and a brother-in-law, Kenny Bischoff of Rexburg, ID, 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 7 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 18th 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Archer at the Sunnydell Chapel with Bishop Derek Joos officiating the family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Sutton Cemetery, Archer, Idaho.
