Karl Ray Thornton, age 78, of Ammon, passed away at his home Sunday, July 23, 2017. Ray was born October 18th 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho a son to Joseph Mont Thornton and Wanda Ahlstrom Thornton. He was raised in the Grant area attending Hawthorn Elementary and Grant Elementary schools. He served with the Army National Guard 116th Engr BN (CMBT) (A) of Idaho from 1959 until 1961. He owned Ray Thornton Painting. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was very kind hearted and generous, courageous and long suffering. He enjoyed fishing, motor bike riding in the mountains, painting and hauling wood. Survivors include sisters; Wanda Mae (Richard) Pattee of Provo, Utah, Renae (George) Danklefsen of Idaho Falls, brothers; Bill (Thurla) Thornton of Rexburg, Burt (Sandra) Thornton of Ammon, Stephen (Ann) Thornton of Rigby. He was preceded in death by his parents Mont and Wanda Thornton and a brother Jim Thornton. Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 26, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grant Central Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho. Interment will be in the Central Cemetery in Grant, Idaho.
