Karla Marie Mortensen Wilding, 79 of Terreton, passed away May 13, 2008, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born November 6, 1928, in Salem, ID, a daughter of Warren Mortensen and Alta Alldredge Mortensen. She attended school in Sugar Salem and graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1947. She married Nile Wilding October 1, 1947 in the Idaho Falls, L.D.S Temple. They lived in Rexburg area for twelve years, and then moved to Mud Lake in 1959. They were later divorced.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the Primary for twenty-five years as a teacher, and councilor, as a councilor in the Relief Society, as Homemaking Leader, Visiting Teaching Supervisor and as a Visiting Teacher for fifty years. She was also a Sunday School Secretary, Assistant Librarian, and did Spanish extraction for eight years. Karla was an election Judge for over twenty years, and volunteered in the elementary school for many years. She enjoyed bowling and was on a bowling league for fifteen years. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by two daughters; Nyla Marie (Matt) Linger and Cindi Ann Sanders both of Terreton, three sons; Frank (Jeannette) Wilding of Ammon, Merlin Dee (Patty) Wilding of Idaho Falls, Terry Don Wilding, of Grant, a sister; Hallie Davidson of Ephrata, WA, a brother; Joe (LaRue) Mortensen of Idaho Falls, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lynn, a brother, Ronald Mortensen, two sisters, Wana Jensen, and Myrna Lue Mortensen.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Terreton Stake Center, with Bishop Scott Blackhem, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
