Kathleen “Kathy” Weight Blakely, 71, passed away surrounded by family on January 18, 2024 at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

She was born on November 27, 1952 to Paul Willis Weight and Carol Johnson Weight in Springville, Utah.

Kathy married for time and all eternity to her sweetheart, Lynn Seldon Blakely, on August 4, 1972 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they have four children.

After the children were grown, she went back to school and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Mechanical Engineering. Kathleen also spent a lot of time as a crochet and quilt designer.

Kathy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was a member of the Snake River Quilt Guild, Arts with a Common Thread and many other Quilting Bees. She loved quilting, crocheting, watching movies, and puzzles of all kinds.

She is preceded in death by granddaughter Samantha J Smith, son Brian S. Blakely, parents Carol and Paul Weight, and sister Sylvia W. Weight.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Lynn Seldon Blakely of Ririe ID; daughters Corinna Blakely, and Karma Burgess; sons Willis (Susan) Blakely, and Donald Blakely of Ririe ID; sister Paula W. Urrabozo of St. George UT; and brother Ace J. Weight; grandchildren Karlee Ann (Dakota Merrill) Burgess of Idaho Falls, Austin S. Blakely of Idaho Falls, Taylor L. Smith of Idaho Falls, Arik S. Blakely of Shelley, Jasen D. Blakely of Shelley, Adelyn R. Blakely of Ammon; great-grandchildren Shaide J. Burgess of Ririe, Kaydence A. Radford of Ririe and Remmington Rose Blakely of Idaho Falls.

Funeral services for Kathy will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. and a night viewing on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Sutton Archer Cemetery.
