Kay L. Clark

September 8, 1920 — July 24, 2007

Kay L. Clark of Menan passed away peacefully at his home July 24, 2007. He was born September 8, 1920 in Menan to Joseph Howard Clark and Alice Irene Lawson Clark. He attended Menan Elementary school and Midway High School. He was the quarter back of the Midway High School state championship football team and was recognized as an all-star in basketball. He also attended Brigham Young University. On September 20, 1946 he married Lucy Nelson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Then worked as a businessman and contractor operating Clark Lumber in Roberts for 55 years with his father Howard and son Kent. He served on the Menan City Council, Jefferson County commissioner, chairman of the 7th District Health Board, and vice president of the Mountain States Lumber Dealers Association. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as Bishop of the Menan 1st ward, as a counselor to Bishop Leo Waters, and on the High Council in the Rigby, Roberts, and Ricks College Stakes. He and Lucy served as officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple for 12 years. Kay and Lucy enjoyed playing golf and Kay made a hole-in-one on #17 at Teton Lakes the year he turned 80. Kay enjoyed his family and grandchildren, nothing made him happier than family. He is survived by his wife Lucy Clark of Menan, Son Kent Clark (JoAnn) Menan, Joyce Warner (Richard) Rigby, Wayne Clark (Kristine) Rigby. A sister, Mary Lou Brice Sanders of The Dalles, OR, a sister-in-law, Elma Draper of Meridan, ID , 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Dean Clark, daughter Valerie Tremelling, and 3 grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday July 27, 2007 at the Menan 1st ward church. The family will meet friends and relatives at Eckersell’s funeral home in Rigby Thursday July 26, 2007 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and July 27, 2007 from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Menan 1st ward chaple. The family would like make a special thanks to Creek Side Hospice for all the wonderful service provided to Kay and his family.
